Artificial board is made of decorating base paper and shaving board, thedecorating need to steep in the MF to enhance its dry and wet strength, but the MFcontains formaldehyde which is hard to people and environment. To solve this problem,this paper use modified starch to surface sized the decorating base paper, then use MFto steep the paper, it could reduce the formaldehyde content of the paper. Theexperiment proves that after surface sized by the modified starch, the paper can haslower formaldehyde and higher strength.1use needle bush and leaf wood as the decorating base paper’s sizing agent, theproportion of these two agents is6:4, then the paper can have good strength and lowabsorption ability. The decorating base paper needs to add titanium dioxide to enhanceits covering power, the dosage is30%, adds1.5%dispersing agent to disperse thetitanium dioxide, adds1.5%CPAM as paper’s retention and drainage aid, adds1.5%PAE as PPE,adds1.0%aluminum sulfate to regulate the pulp’s pH,after that thedecorating base paper can have a good performance.2the native starch can’t used as surface sizing agent of decorating base paper, thispaper choose three methods to treat the starch. First, use CTA to etherificate the starchin the case of alkaline condition, the dosage of CTA is3.0%, and the dosage of NaOHis1.0%, the time of etherification is140min and the etherification temperature is35℃.Second, us amylase to treat the starch, the dosage of amylase is0.1%, theconcentration of the starch is5%, the reaction time is20min and the reactiontemperature is85℃. Third, use both CTA and amylase to modify the starch and finallyget the etherfied-enzymatic starch.3use these three modified starch as the decorating base paper’s surface sizingagents. After a series of analysis and comparison, we finally choose the etherfied-enzymatic starch as the best surface sizing agents. The best surface sizing technologyis: the best dosage is1.5g/m2, in this condition the paper’s dry strength index is32.06N m/g, and the wet strength index is13.67N m/g, the surface water sucking number is98.16%, and the sucking height is27.56mm/10min.4after surface sized, put the decorating base paper into MF to steep, the best steeptechnology is: the steep dosage is130%, the steep time is240s, the best curingtemperature is140℃and the best curing time is30minutes. In this condition, thepaper’s dry strength index is36.55N m/g, the wet strength index is20.03N m/g, the volatile matter content is6.31%, as a contrast, the unsurface sized paper’s volatilematter content is10.24%. through SEM and mechanization analysis, it proves that thedecorating base paper which surface sized by etherfied-enzymatic starch can havehigher dry and wet strength performance and low formaldehyde content.
