The development of mining industry plays a significant role in the increase of national economy. The continuing exploitation of mineral resources provides raw materials, but at the same time giving rise to many barren rocks which are supposed to be moved to the earth’s surface. The barren rocks not only need room to rest on but also bring about potential ecological threats like polluted water and land, vegetation deterioration and spoiling the landscape etc. Rock filling technology with high efficiency and high reliability can perfectly solve these problems, and promote resource utilization. However, because of the movement and accumulation of rock block during stope filling, which would lead to weak working performance, the instability of filling bodies with rock incorporated will occur. Therefore, it is in urgent need to detect the basic laws for the movement of block rock in fillings, in attempt to minimize the mixture slurry segregation, increase the strength of rock concrete, and improve the whole support performance. In this paper, the filling rock movement mechanism model was established on the basis of the collision mechanics. And this model was verified by laboratory similar model tests, which theoretically provided references to engineering practices. Specific research was conducted as follows:Firstly, the rock movement model was set up from the perspective of collision mechanics. In this model, the effects of various physical parameters, such as rock particle size, the location and angle of filling wall, moisture content, and so on, on rock movement were investigated, the similarity principle was employed to carry out the rock accumulation model tests in two dimensions. To be specific, Then physical parameters were screened to compare with that in the on on-segregation region to evaluate isolation by univariate analysis of variance. Secondly, It was found the relationship between rock throwing angle and rock filling segregation is similarly index function relation. The rock maximum diameter falls, segregation fallen degree slightly and accordingly. And the segregation also rises as the scale of stop becoming bigger. However, the water in rock filling can reduce the segregation.Thirdly, according to the results, a suitable filling technique with cemented rock block was performed in view of the in-situ mining conditions, which validated the feasibility of the theory established in this paper.
