The Case Study On Cleaner Production Audit For Cement Industry

Cement which is the basic raw material is an inseparable part of the nationaleconomic development and the life of the people.30years since reform and openingup, China cement industry which has ranked first in the world in the last20years hasmaintained a high rate of growth. However, cement industry that results in massivenegative impact on the environment, discharges the numerous pollutants every yearand consumes a great deal of resource and energy, while causing many environmentalpollution problems. Cleaner production(CP) is conform to the strategy for thesustainable development of a new mode of production. By the prevention of thesource and control of the whole process, the purpose of saving energy, reducingconsumption and pollution can be achieved in the cement production. As the centralidea of CP，Cleaner Production Audit through investigation and diagnosis of processproduction in companies, explores the potential of CP, and then choose CP programmewhich have been proved by the technique, enconomy and environment feasibilityanalysis. Finally, decrease pollution and increase efficiency were carried out byexecution of CP programme. In order to realize sustainable development, cementplants should alter the mode of production completely, promote cleaner production.The first part of this paper introduces the basic concept, content and significanceof cleaner production and cleaner production audit. Descripting the environmentalimpact of cement industry as well as elaborating potential, opportunities, backgroundand significance of CP, it also points out that the implementation CP is the cementprofession sustainable development inevitably choice.In the second part, on the basisof summarizing CP audit experiences of massive cement plants，specific ideas for thecement industry are carried out through the implementation of CP audit. The way thathow to carry out CP audit is putted up from descripting the planning and organization,pre-assessment, evaluation, the selection, feasibility analysis, the implementation ofthe programme and Sustainable cleaner production, so that can provide some valuablemethods and the basis for other cement companies. In the third part, a typical case——NF cement company is selected for its CP audit.38specific CP programmes arebrought forward from eight aspects such as raw and auxiliary materials and energy,technology, process control, equipment, products, management, wastes and employees.The specific data from this enterprise illustrates that CP achieves saving energy, reducing consumption and improving efficiency as the goal. It is necessary to promotCP so that cement profession will become a sustainable developing eco-industrial.This paper integrates the theory with the practice, so that can be referredanddirected by other cement companies.
