A Study On The Constitute A Theory Of The Modern Chinese-style Furniture

Chinese traditional furniture once played an irreplaceable important role in the history of world furniture development. It has created splendid achievements and dramatically promoted the furniture industry of our country and even the world, which make Chinese traditional furniture a sparkling pearl in the world furniture history. Its modeling elements, design symbols and structural design mark the basis and inspiration source of creative design in modern furniture. In spite of the booming development of modern furniture, the development of modern Chinese-style furniture is not optimistic. Instead, it has just started to develop and there still exist many issues restraining its development, such as immaturity of available technology, rigid design, and dull materials, which make it lag behind other countries.In this paper, the author undertook a deep research and analysis on modern Chinese-style furniture design through the induction and deduction method, scene investigation method, analysis and synthesis method and practice verification method. This paper is divided into the following parts:first, it is a brief introduction to the compose theory and aesthetic form rule; second, it is the application of the compose theory in modern furniture design, especially in the modern Chinese-style furniture and modern Nordic furniture; third, it is the innovation design of the modern Chinese-style furniture, including the creative principles and methods, and the practice of design.The compose theory is the basic for this paper. Through the detailed introduction to composition, the aesthetic form rules of the planar formation, color composition and Three-dimensional Constitute Technique, the author further explains the extensive application of the compose theory in modern furniture design. The various elements and related compose theory are the main applications of modern Chinese-style furniture design and modern Nordic furniture. Through the comparative analysis on the design concept, the utilization on the materials, the application of the compose theory and the development of products between modern Chinese-style furniture and modern Nordic furniture, the author concluded the advantages and disadvantages in the development of these two kinds of furniture. Thus, the author summed up a general direction of the modern Chinese-style furniture. Through the overall analysis and elaboration, the author puts up the basic principles and methods in the creative design of modern Chinese-style furniture. In addition, the author also proves these methods to be scientific and reasonable with practice design, which means to promote the development of the modern Chinese-style furniture through the detailed analysis.
