In this paper, the emulsion polymerization method was adopted to prepare agglomeration agents with monomer mixture of acrylic acid(AA) and butyl acrylate(BA) for polybutadiene latex agglomeration. So that the increase of PB latex has been the effect of particle size, used to improve the performance of ABS resin. The influence of agglomeration time、the composition of agglomeration agent、the amount of agglomerating agent and the particle size of agglomeration agent on the polybutadiene latex particle size were studied. In this study, four series were synthesized agglomeration agent, and a series of tests was carried out research. It was show that agglomeration time should not be too long,40-60minutes will be able to complete when BA/AA is80/20,agglomeration agent added to the PB latex accounts for8.3%of the total PBL mass, the agglomeration effect is obvious, polybutadiene latex of average particle size increased from96nm to550nm, particle size has been a marked growth, it was show that synthetic agglomerating agglomeration agent has a good effect.Agglomeration of PB latex polymerization, and test the performance of the grafted latex. Synthetic ABS resin powder grafted with SAN blends. After mechanical tests, the results show that when particle size increases after PB latex, ABS resin impact and tensile properties have of agglomeration after grafting reaction carried out by changing the amount of agglomeration agent added to been significantly improved. When the particle size of PB latex less than300nm, the impact and tensile properties is not increased significantly, when the PB latex particle size more than300nm, the impact and tensile properties has been greatly improved. In this paper, the laboratory synthesis attached polymerization inhibitor used for the agglomeration of the PB latex, So that the particle size of the PB latex has been effectively increased. Final experiment demonstrated that when particle size increases after PB latex, ABS resin, impact properties and tensile properties are significantly improved, modified to obtain better results. In this study, the reference value for the preparation of high-performance ABS resin.
