BTEX is one of the most important class of organic compounds in volatile organic compounds, which is mainly from human activities in cities and has an important impact on the atmospheric environment. BTEX is harmful to human health, and benzene even have a carcinogenic effect. At the same time, due to the higher photochemical reactivity of BTEX, it has an important contribution to the form of the main substances in photochemical smog (O3, aldehydes and ketones, PAN, etc.), and endanger human health indirectly. Therefore, it is meaningful to study the status of urban pollution of BTEX, the variation of urban pollution of BTEX, and the source of urban pollution of BTEX.Select two months of every season for sampling in order to study the pollution situation and spatial and temporal distribution of BTEX. The sampling sites are mainly located in a few feature points of Jinan. On the other hand, select the transportation routes specially and sample in interval time in consideration of the contribution of traffic pollution to the BTEX. Use Tedlar sampling bag and flow meters to sample, and take back the samples in24hours for analyzing. In this experiment, use portable GC/MS to analyse.The most heavily polluted BTEX component are benzene and toluene, in the other hand, the lightly polluted BTEX component is styrene;Among these sampling sites, the most heavily polluted area is gas station area, followed by Shanda intersection and the area around Qingqi. On the contrary, the pollution of cultural and educational area and residential area are light relatively.The monitoring results of air environment of the arterial traffic showed that the pollution of traffic area is really seriously. It is presented that obvious double peaks in the day of the concentration variation of the BTEX in the air, which depended to variation of the source strength and the diffuse conditions; In the area of Shanda intersection gas station and Qingqi, the concentration of BTEX in summer is the highest, but in the area of Shanda campus, the concentration of BTEX in winter is the highest. By means of determining the BTEX in urban area ambient air of Jinan, we obtain a series of results:the most heavily polluted BTEX component are benzene and toluene, the concentration of which are23.89μg/m3、24.6μg/m3、accounting for more than60%of total BTEX. The concentration of other components are6.43μg/m3、12.52μg/m3、6.02μg/m3、3.98μg/m3.The sources of BTEX in Jinan are complex relatively, mainly chemical industry, automobile exhaust, and construction industries.The concentration of BTEX is affected by the weather conditions to a certain extent. The concentration of BTEX is higher when the weather is haze and cloudy than the weather is sunny. In addition, it is helpful that the scour of rain can remove the BTEX in the air.
