Stope stability has a direct influence on the coal mining and the safety of human and equipment. By analyzing the stope roof rank, evaluate its stability and choose suitable support pattern, which aims to ensure safe and efficient production. This paper takes-200m stope roof stability of Hou’guan-yin-shan mine for a example and takes it as the research target. The research mainly adopts lab test, theoretical analysis,scheme design and numerical simulation methods to study different supporting schemes and determine a suitable support scheme of Hou’guan-yin-shan. The main content as follows:1. Comparatively analyzed the roof support theories at home and abroad and summarized all kinds of theories’advantage and applicable condition, point out the existing defect and develop trends.2. After a field investigation on the deposit geological structures and mining condition, combined with the rock mechanics test, obtain the different rock mass parameters, have a surrounding rock rank and stope roof bolt support design.3. Analysis on the development situation of rock rank method, put forward the applicability of grey theory method. By means of the influent factors of rock stability, establish the surrounding rock grey clustering model,which concludes five indexes:rock-saturation uniaxial compressive strength Rw, integrity coefficient Kv, quality designation RQD, joint spacingd, structural face state, finally compute the ranks of different rock layers.4. Analysis on the roof bolt support anchoring mechanism, according to the anchor design manual and empirical formula and combined with its specific engineering condition and properties of surrounding rocks, have a stope roof bolt support design. And propose six roof supporting schemes and have a numerical simulation with the MIDAS/GTS software. Finally with the simulation result, choose a more reasonable support parameter. By use of the grey theory, have a research on the core problem of safe mining and explore new rank method of stope roof stability, which has a great important theoretical significance and engineering value to safe and efficient mining.
