In this paper, the factors such as temperature raise pace, sample size, samplequantity were analyzed in the course of the thermal decomposition by usingdifferential thermal analysis (DTA). The wheat and corn moisture content, crude fibercontent and corresponding DTA curve peak area were discussed through the nationalstandard method and differential thermal analysis method. The experimental resultsshow that:(1) the variation of Sample size on DTA curve influenced obviously, largersize, peak area becomes larger. The best choice for the particle size is140head.(2)the effect of Temperature raise pace on DTA is obviously. In the higher heating rateof peak area larger, peak becomes acute. In the determination of wheat moisture andcrude fiber in this paper choose the best heating rate of10degrees per minute; in thedetermination of corn moisture and crude fiber in this paper choose the best heatingrate of8degrees per minute.(3) Quantity of the sample will be changed on DTA curvehas a relatively large impact.Larger quantity can easily make the two adjacent peaksoverlap, reducing the resolution. The best choice for quantity of the sample was10mg.(4) In the optimized experimental conditions, there is a line relationshipbetween the content of crude fiber in wheat and the corresponding peak area of DTAcurve, the linear equation is: y=27.8791x+15.4018, the correlation coefficient r=0.9971; moisture content and the corresponding DTA curve linear relationshipbetween peak area, the linear equation is: y=1.7689x-5.368, correlation coefficient r=0.9958. The content of crude fiber in corn and the corresponding DTA curve linearrelationship between peak area, the linear equation is: y=6.7014x+16.0315,correlation coefficient r=0.9972; the moisture content and the corresponding DTAcurve linear relationship between peak area, the linear equation is: y=3.1579x12.4656,correlation coefficient r=0.9975. There is no linear relationship between moisturecontent and DTA curve of the peak area that the moisture content of more than17%.This method is only applicable to water content less than17%.(5) The wheat andcorn differential thermal spectrum and infrared spectrum were analyzed respectively, the results showed that: the first endothermic pesk in60~150degrees is due tomoisture evaporation;the second exothermic peak in300~400degrees is wheat or corn coarse fiber in generated through decomposition.According to the result of theIR analysis of wheat and corn which after burning to400degrees, at400degreeswheat and corn cellulose has decomposition.
