Traditional mechanical press has fixed working mode and motion characteristics with pooradaptability, which has been unable to meet the requirements for forming of differentmaterials and different stamping process. With the development of the servo controltechnology, servo press is invented by engineers. Compared with the traditional mechanicalpress, servo press is more automatic and flexible and has advantages in improving productaccuracy, reducing the noise and improving production efficiency. Servo press, driven byservo motor, can precisely control the slider displacement, speed and acceleration to meetdifferent requirements of processing by controlling the speed of servo motor accurately.The characteristics of servo presses and the research status of servo press are introduced.The importance of research on servo press and the significance are presented. Through theanalysis of the characteristics of typical stamping process and the slider in different workingmode for the influence of the stamping, research on servo press slide motion trajectory isconducted. A new simplified method to plan slider trajectory curve is put forward, and theacceleration curve is the combined sine function, which makes the trajectory curve smooth,improves the servo press craft adaptability greatly and can induces the requirement ofdynamic response. Trajectory planning of the slider is carried out. In addition, the basicprinciples of the control system of serve press are explained.Based on software CATIA, the paper finished the three-dimensional parts and assemblageof the JB042T crank press. For the slider-crank system, the kinematics equation is establishedby using the closed-loop vector equation, and kinematics simulation and analysis are finishedin MATLAB/Simulink. Dynamics analysis, based on the Lagrange’s Equation, is establishedto achieve the analytical expression of crank driving torque.SimMechanics model of the servo press is built up with the use of SimMechanics toolboxes in MATLAB/Simulink. Kinematics and dynamics simulation and analysis ofmaintaining pressure mode, swing mode and vibration mode are carried out. The experimentresults will provide a reference for the design of the servo control system.By reverse simulation, the slider track system model curves were input in simulationmodel, the motor speed curve and the amount of other kinds of motor input parameters canbe obtained by simulation. It appears that the results of simulation are very important toimprove the accuracy of the servo control.
