The main purpose of this experiment is to improve the quality of tobacco by thetechnology of electron beam irradiation, and evaluate the tobacco quality through the wayof combine the sensory evaluation and main chemical composition analysis. In order toqualitative demonstrate that the actual effect of improve tobacco quality by electron beamirradiation. The main research results are as follows:(1) The exterior color of tobacco transform from the original tan into golden yellowafter the irradiation of electron beam irradiation conditions which were set. The texture oftobacco is also very fragile because of the loss of water and some volatile organiccompounds, and which can easily crushed between two hands.(2) The analysis results of main chemical composition in tobacco show that thecontent of which have big differences between different years, different regions anddifferent types, which also cause the improvement effect is not exactly of different tobaccoafter the electron beam irradiation. But overall, electron beam irradiation basically changethe content of organic in tobacco like reducing sugar, water-soluble total sugar andnicotine, etc, with the corresponding sugar-nicotine ratio and nitrogen-nicotine ratio arealso changed obviously. In addition, the content of potassium and potassium-chloride ratioalso increase in vary degrees after irradiation.(3) The results of sensory evaluation show that A tobacco has best sensory quality incondition of electron beam energy=150keV, beam strength=2mA and transmissionspeed respectively were0.5m/min and1m/min. And B tobacco, C tobacco and D tobaccoall have better sensory quality than other irradiation conditions, which are all in conditionof electron beam energy=150keV, beam strength=4mA, transmission speed=0.5m/min.
