The connecting rod device is a new equipment of converter furnace and the circle ofconverter, coMPared with other traditional three-point spherical hinge hanging device andhanging dish connecting device, the connecting rod device has some advantages like morestable, less thermal stress and more free to bilge and shrink. However, considering the deviceis mostly imported from abroad, the mechanical behavior of the process of its work isshortage. After collecting the related dates of the210t converter in Baotou Iron and SteelGroup, then replacing the connecting device with connecting rod device. In order to masterthe mechanical behavior of the connecting devices in the course of their work, using CATIAto model the whole support system of converter, importing the entity to ANSYS Workbenchfor finite element analysis, finally, getting the FEA results of connecting rod devices, whichcan provide a scientific basis for future design. The main work contents are shown below:1) On the basis of thermal-structural analysis for the whole entity. Getting thetemperature distribution, stress distribution and deformation distribution of its connecting roddevices. Then coMPared the results with materials’ tensile yield strength to check theirstrength.2) On the basis of nonlinear contact analysis for the bearings. Getting the contact stressand contact status to lay the foundation for the following optimization and fatigue analysis.3) On the basis of linear buckling analysis for the horizontal rod. Getting the load andmodel deformation of buckling to lay the foundation for the further nonlinear bucklinganalysis.4) On the basis of the results of safety factor, having a parametric modeling and designoptimization for fillets on hanging ear. Making the maximum von-Mises stresses forresponse Parameters, the radius of fillets for input Parameters, getting the response surfaceabout them, finally, getting three optimal candidates and the best candidate. The candidatescan make the hanging ear more safe and reliable.The results show that the strength of all Parts of this connecting device can meet therequirements as long as it is properly designed. Contact and buckling analysis is close to theactual condition. The design explorer also achieves the expected effect.
