With the rapid development of the world economy and the growth of population, moreand more energy is needed. The oil as one of the world,s major energy sources, plays a veryimportant role in the development of the world. Reclaiming Sulfur from crude oil not onlyrealize the rational utilization of resources, but also minish the environment pollution. Oilrefineries reclaim sulfur mainly from the acid gas. With development of the technology ofburning ammonia and burner, much more companies use the process of burning ammonia. The effect of burning ammonia in Acid gas, which directly affects the process of sulfurrecovery. The effect of burning ammonia depends on the ratio of gas and air in combustionfurnace, the ratio adjusted by content of hydrogen sulfide and ammonia in acid gas. How torapidly and accurately determine the content of hydrogen sulfide and ammonia in acid gas, which causes people,s concern. This paper analyses ammonia and hydrogen sulfide in acid gas by gas chromatography,so as the standard gases of ammonia and hydrogen sulphide. Taking the factors of retentiontime (tr), theoretical plate number (n), separating degree (R), trailing factor (P) andasymmetric degree (Sn) as consideration, we determine the best chromatographic condition. The best condition is as fellows: chromatographic column temperature,45℃; vaporizingchamber temperature,100℃; detector temperature,100℃; TCD detector, current100mA,sampling volum2mL, H2carrier gas with a flow of45mL/min, with a2m, i.d.4mm,packed column. We discusse the crystal condition of the mixed gas by the theory ofchemical balance. When the pressure of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide is below16.8kPa,the gas temperature is maintained more than110℃, the gas system will not crystallization. Before the chromatographic analysis, dehydrant is used to remove the water in the acid gas. When the water is completely removed, the best retention time is about0.5min. Comparedwith the results of dehydration and non-dehydration of the standard gases, the resultsindicate that the adsorption effect of dehydrant particle can be ignored after ventilating5min. Contrasted the external standard method to area normalization method, the resultsshow that the former,s accuracy and stability is superior to external standard method. The content of ammonia in acid gas is analysed and determinated by gaschromatography, which can achieve rapid, accurate, real-time response to the actualsituation of process, good effect of burn ammonia and the normal operation of the sulfurrecovery can be ensured at the same time. Moreover, the problem of complex operation,time-consuming, harm to operating personnel health of chemical analysis can be avoided.
