With the recent rapid development of aluminum industry, the demand of calcinedcoke used to produce the prebaked anode is also growing. But in our production process ofcalcined petroleum coke with the use of rotary kiln, under the same conditions our rotarykiln production, the fact yield of material, quality of the coke calcined all lag farbehind foreign countries. For the main problems of the carbon rotary kiln in domestic use,we put forward the necessity that the several rotary kiln process operations must be keptunder strict control, in order to realize the high output of the rotary kiln and the highquality of petroleum coke after combustion and reduce the combustion loss of the material.By means of the proper control of the position and length of burning zone, the quantity ofthe material, negative pressure in rotary kiln, the move speed, filling rate and the supply ofsecondary air and tertiary air, the quality and the quantity will be improved.The essay exploits the thermal design software platform of carbon rotary kiln.Compared to the Perron J’s experiment, the software can predict temperature distributionof the flue gas phase, the kiln wall and material phase along the axial direction of cylinderbody,,and can predict the every component quality change of the flue gas phase andmaterial phase. The thermodynamic calculation process of the software adopts the meansof the split step calculation and alternate calculation of the material phase-flue gas phase,The calculation of the heat and mass transfer process takes into consideration the moistureand the volatile matter in the material, the release process of carbon particles and theinfluence of the combustion process of volatile matter, carbon particles. The design of theparameters of the software interfaces with the database of domestic typical kiln and thetype of materials, and the design of cylinder type of rotary kiln, and can optimize thedesign rotary kiln designed, which can be compared to the effect of sintering processunder the process operation on the stove. For the rotary kiln optimization process this paper analyzes the influence of the thefactors which is the quantity of volatile matter content and stove burning by the change ofthe first air volume, the second and the third wind air volume and the place to the end ofthe flue gas phase. It also has certain reference meaning to set up a reasonable air supply.It also studied the thermal condition contrast of the straight-type rotary kiln and theexpand-type rotary kiln use a specific example of rotary kiln parameter, the results showthat expand-type rotary kiln has certain advantages in the length and the highesttemperature of the calcined furnace, the content of the volatile matter in the end of flue gasphase, the amount of the kiln burning carbonaceous is slightly more than the straight-typekiln, but the expansion of the inner value in the end of the kiln will also reduce thematerial particle number in the end of flue gas phase, so the real calcination yield of rotarykiln increase.
