A variety of new type fibre is widely applied in the textile design of different style and use in textile field nowadays. Blended products can make good use of advantages of various kinds of fibre. Natural fibre and synthetic fibre’s blending can both improve the shortcomings of natural fibre itself, but also can improve the performance of textile fabric. The cost of products reduces as well. Thus, the blended products are welcomed by people from each country.This paper first focused on study of the properties of sea island fibre, by a series of splitting experiment, the optimized treatment condition is established. Through spinning experiments of fibre in the laboratory, four sorts of sea island fibre/cotton blended yarns are prepared with different blending ratio. The structure and properties of yarns of the different ratio were tested and analyzed, one optimal blended yarn was evaluated eventually. The yarn various functions are more excellent. Second, through designing texture, five different sorts of sample were weaved in laboratory hand sample weaving machine. The blended fabrics were finished with the optimized splitting treatment condition, eventually, the properties of fabric were analyzed.The splitting experiment showed that:the LDPE component of PA6/LDPE sea island fibre can be dissolved in hot toluene. The full PA6component superfine fibre can be got by splitting treatment. The two main effect factors of fibre’weight loss rate are extracting time and treating temperature, the effect of liquor ratio is weaker. After comprehensive evaluation of treatment, the optimized splitting treatment condition is as follows:the extracting time is60min, the treating temperature is85℃and liquor ratio is1:20.The sea island fibre/cotton blended yarns have good touch-feeling and excellent properties of two types of fibre. Analyzing the measured data of various properties, the results showed that:with the increasing of sea island fibre content, the breaking strength of blended yarns enhanced, the hairiness index decreased, but the blended yarn unevenness increased.The warp yarn with a form of strands interweaves with the weft yarn with a form of single blended yarn, plain texture is adopted, design the white cotton casual style fabric of four blended ratio, then analyze various properties. The results showed that:between fabric shrinkage, gloss, tensile property, abrasion resistance, crease resistance, draping property, bending rigidity, permeability of fabric and the content of sea island fibre have certain regularity. When the content of sea island fibre of fabric is low, the fabric shrinkage is large, the permeability becomes poor, touch-feeling becomes more stiff, the gloss is very common, the breaking strength is low and the crease resistance is weak, with the increasing content of sea island fibre, the fabric shrinkage reduces, the permeability of fabric is good, good touch-feeling, fabric gloss is better, the breaking strength and the crease resistance enhances. The test results has important practical and guiding sense to the actual production.
