With the unceasing development of science technology and production technology, the processing precision and efficiency are increasingly demanding, processed materials have wider range and the machine has better dynamic characteristics. Therefore, further study of the dynamic characteristics of the machine is one of the important research issue. This thesis mainly for dynamic and static characteristics for the truss structure of machine tool is studied.Based on the basic theories of finite element analysis and static and dynamic characteristics analysis, natural static and dynamic characteristics of the truss structure and its derivatives are studied in this thesis. Then verify whether the structure design is reasonable or not, and find out unreasonable structure, in order to provide references and improvement directions for optimization designing of the structure of the truss.After considering the truss structure completely, firstly, the geometric models of whole and parts the truss structures are creating by Pro/E. Then the geometric models are introduced into ANSYS and they are further improved. Subsequently, the geometric models are created into finite element models by defining element types, defining material parameters and mesh generation. Truss structures are dynamically analyzed. First natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained, so dynamic characteristics are obtained. According to result analysis of dates and figures, improvement suggestions for optimization designing are proposed. According to results of force analysis of the truss stuctures, constraints and loads are applied on special lines or areas. The element model of truss structures are statically analyzed. The stiffness and strength of structure are obtained. Through comparing the results of static analysis under different conditions, further analysis are used to the static characteristics of all truss structure.After statically analyzing,the paper also executes contact analysis on the truss structure, thus,we can understand deformation and stress condition of parts truss structure, then the design of the structure are more reasonable and basis for the optimization of the structure are provided. In addition, studing of this paper about the characteristics and applications of the special materials (carbon fiber composite materials) are also discussed in this paper.In this thesis, by studying the static and dynamic characteristics of the truss, the references of optimization design are provided for product design and development. So the efficiency of improvement design of structure is increased. In addition, the methods of creating geometric models, creating finite element models and static and dynamic characteristics analysis can be easy to spread to other similar mechanical structure analysis and study, especially these methods could provide a great reference value when the large NC machine tools are studied on static and dynamic characteristics.
