Four novel aromatic azo compounds with well-defined structure were synthesizedfrom cyanuric chloride, hydroxyazobenzene and4,4′-dihydroxyazobenzene.They were2,4-dichloro-6-(4-(phenyldiazenyl)phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (MOT),2-chloro-4,6-bis(4-(phenyldiazenyl)phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (DOT),2,4,6-tris(4-(phenyl-diazenyl)phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (TOT) and1,2-bis(4-((4,6-bis(4-(phenyldiazenyl)phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)oxy)phenyl)diazene (POT). Their structures were characterized by FT-IR, NMR,LC-MS and elementary analysis. Their solubility, crystallinity, thermal stability, UV-visabsorption and fluorescence properties, photoisomerization and electrochemistry werecarefully studied. The results showed that the synthesized azoaromatics preservedpartial typical characteristics of a single azobenzene (for example, photophysicalproperties and reversible photoisomerization) and at the same time possessed someinteresting new features (such as individual solubility, crystallinity and goodthermostability). They are expected to be used in photonic material areas. |
