The research that how to use steel slag which belongs to solid waste residue better has agreat significance. This paper mainly studies the function of Steel slag acting as raw material inthe process of cement production. The study burns cement clinker with limestone、clay andsteel slag in different content, different surface. In order to get the best performance ratio, discuss the function of steel slag in the process of burning cement, and achieve better economicbenefits, it can study the influence on the steel slag in burning cement clinker through theclinker stability test,3d,7d strength test and clinker of XRD, SEM test. This paper also carriedout some experiments, such as water demand of normal consistency, cement stability, settingtime strength of3d,28d,whose samples contain activating agent and different specific surfacearea, different proportion of steel slag. After these experiments it obtains the optimum ratio bymeans of studying the influence of specific surface area, proportion of steel slag and activatingagent on cement’s physics performances. The study also analyses the hydration product andhydration course with the help of XRD analysis sand SEM analysis. The results are as follows:The cement stability of clinker which claimed using steel slag as raw material wasqualified. The greater specific surface area of steel slag in samples, the less content off-CaO in the clinker when the content of steel slag was15%and the surface area of steel slagwas475.7m2/kg, the performance of cement achieved the best level. When the steel slag was used as mixed materials for cement, the cement stability was allqualified. The greater the specific surface area of steel slag, the higher water demand of normalconsistency. Although the surface area of steel slag is not obvious for the influence of thecement setting time, but with increased the content of steel slag, the strength of cement wouldgradually decrease. The greater the specific surface area of steel slag, the greater its strength, and the more the steel slag, the smaller its strength. The performance of cement improvedaccording to the optimum mixture ratio of orthogonal experiment.Addition of activating agentstimulates the hydration of steel slag. The optimum scheme was sodium silicate2%, content 2%, water reducing agent0.6%. Its strength of3d increases by22%compared with the blanksample.
