Traditional method of realizing visualization of mining subsidence information often use2d profiles line or t equivalent line,, because of the distribution of ground subsidence information of mining area have three dimensional continuous characteristics in the time and space, using2d graphics to express mining subsidence information has real limitations, not only the visual is bad, but also difficult to express the surface movement of the deformation of surface movement details, the judgment of the deformation information also need some experience and knowledge of mathematics, cartography. GIS as the third generation of geography language, has strong data management and expression and spatial analysis ability, applied in the field of geography has its unique advantages, mining subsidence as a branch of geological field, should make full use of advantages of GIS, improve the professional data processing, analysis and expression, but the existing efficiency of using GIS in the visualization of mining subsidence studies did not consider terrain characteristics of mining area, so the visible graphics can only expression the negative surface mining subsidence condition, but can’t express original terrain condition of mining subsidence surface, bring some inconvenience to the disaster prevention project designIn view of the shortcoming existed in the3D-visualization method of mining subsidence without considering the3D-terrain features in mining areas, the paper conduct the modification calculation of surface3d coordinate in mining areas through adding the function of3d coordinate modification and3d coordinate fusion calculation in forecasting program of mining subsidence, And combined with ArcGIS through the data transmission, the3D-visualization of mining subsidence considering3D-terrain features in mining areas is realized by means of ArcGIS,3D surface map produced with the new approach can vividly represent the situation of displacement and distortion of mine surface after subsidence compared with the existed3D-Visualization approach, it can also use the strong spatial analysis and spatial data query functions of ArcGIS, realizing the good application of GIS in mining subsidence area, it provides the foundation for the project design of disaster prevention engineering of mining subsidence.
