With the development of texturing technology, chemical modification and biological technology, studying on varieties of simulation and eco-functional fibers has became an important direction of the textile materials. As we all know, in recent years, the cotton fibers run in continuous high price and it will be a tight resource in the long term. Developing a new fiber to exceed or surpass the properties of cotton fibers is extremely urgent. It is significant not only for the greatest extent using the over-capacity of polyester, but also for the easing of tense situation on domestic cotton supply shortage.First of all, the paper tried to analyze and evaluate the properties of two existing cotton-like polyester fabrics including the air-textured and the false-twist textured products. Then chemical and enzyme modification were used on the false-twist textured fabrics. This paper identified the optimal process parameters of Alkali reweighing by designing orthogonal test, evaluated the fabrics in gloss, comfort and handle through analyzing the surface morphology, the physical and mechanical properties and functions of fibers after the modification. Also we got the variation of fabric properties in different reduction rate and some initial investigation of the mechanism of enzyme modification. Finally, use the method of Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation to make the imitation cotton-performance evaluation of the fabrics including the false-twist textured polyester fabric, false-twist textured polyester fabrics being modified with alkali and biological enzyme.The paper draw the conclusion that the false-twist textured possess better appearance, gloss, permeability, infiltration and warm sense than the air-textured fabrics. Factors affecting the reduction rate of the false-twisted polyester fabrics in order can be:promoter concentration, alkali concentration, temperature and time. Good drapery, comfort and handle has been achieved after the alkali treatment and the best properties happened in5%-10%for the reduction rate. Studies shown that fine pits formed in the surface of fibers and distributed uniformly after the treatment of biological enzyme. It damaged lightly to the fibers and helped the fabrics achieve a better performance. The Fuzzy evaluation results shown that the properties of the enzyme-modified fabrics is more cotton-like than the alkali-treated fabrics. This paper provides good direction for the development of the polyester cotton-like products. The method of enzymatic modification will benefit the society in the future though it is still a long way for its industrialization.
