In this dissertation, oil/water swellable rubbers were blended with oil swellable rubber and water swellable rubber. The Sealing material can swell in oil-water. The dissertation consists of three parts as follows. The first part, oil-absorbing resins were prepared. Study the influence of the monomer and ratio of the oil-absorbing resins on the oil absorptivity and mechanical properties. The results indicate that the oil absorptivity of the oil-absorbing resins was decided by the carbon chain length of the monomer. The oil absorptivity of the oil-absorbing resins compared with dioctadecyl methacrylate and butyl metheacrylate when the ratio of the monomer was1:2was the heightest. The absorptivity of the resins was about16.6g/g for gasoline,15.6g/g for diesel oil,12.2g/g for engine oil,25.8g/g for toluene. The second part, the oil swellable rubbers were prepared. Study the influence of the type and the mass fraction of the oil-absorbing resins on on the oil absorptivity and mechanical properties of the oil swellable rubbers. The results showed that the oil absorptivity of the oil swellable rubbers was improved and the mechanical properties was reduced with the increasing of the oil-absorbing resins. The complex properties of the oil swellable rubbers with the oil-absorbing resins compared with dioctadecyl methacrylate and butyl metheacrylate when the ratio of the monomer was1:2as the filler were best. The third part, the oil/water swellable rubbers were blended with the oil swellable rubbers and the water swellable rubbers or maded by the oil swellable rubbers with sap as the filler. Study the influence of the ratio of the oil swellable rubbers and the water swellable rubbers and the methods of the oil/water swellable rubbers on the oil or water absorptivity and mechanical properties of the oil/water swellable rubbers. The results indicate that the oil or water absorptivity and mechanical properties of the oil/water swellable rubbers wrer weaker than the oil swellable rubbers and the water swellable rubbers when they were independent.
