In this thesis, we tried to improve the Velcro’s strength when it is used in acid environment by Anti-acid Finishing. In the experiment, we studied the strength of Velcro, how the strength changed when it was used in sulfuric acid, the technology on how to improve its strength in acid environment, and the optimization study on Anti-acid Finishing technology. Besides these, we also studied other performance of Velcro in this thesis.Through the study on Velcro’s strength, it was shown that the strength was influenced by the hook intensity and appearance. And it was also influenced by hook density per width, loop appearance. Besides, environment was also a contributory factor. Through the study on Velcro’s property in sulfuric acid, a huge decline in strength was found when it was used in sulfuric acid, and trend of the decline in strength would be much more obvious with the concentration improved until the Velcro’s structure was destroyed. When the concentration of sulfuric was25%, the peel strength reduced46%and the shear strength reduced38%.Through the study on Velcro’s basic anti-acid technology, we found the regular pattern of the effect of finishing agent’s concentration, finishing time, baking temperature and time on its anti-acidic property.Through the study on Velcro’s anti-acid optimization technology, we found when the concentration of finishing agent was40g/l, finishing time1h and samples were baked under155℃within70s, we could achieve the best result of Velcro’s anti-acidic property. Compared to the regular Velcro, the peel and shear strength of Velcro soaked in the sulfuric acid improved11.4%,19.1%, respectively.Through the study of Velcro’s anti-hydrochloric acid and nitric acid, When hydrochloric acid’s concentration was below10%, compared to regular Velcro, the Velcro finished by C finishing composition improved at least36%in peel strength and31%in shear strength. When hydrochloric acid’s concentration was above10%, compared regular Velcro with polyester Velcro, we found the Polyester Velcro improved at least49%in peel intensity and32%in shear intensity. When nitric acid’s concentration was below10%, compared to regular Velcro, the Velcro finished by C finishing composition improved at least43%in peel intensity and23%in shear intensity. When nitric acid’s concentration was above10%, compared regular Velcro with polyester Velcro, we found the Polyester Velcro improved at least45%in peel intensity and30%in shear intensity.
