In this paper, preparation processes of specific intrinsic viscosity and cationicity copolymer PDA with low residue monomer content and narrow distribution were studied, by using industrial monomers, diallyldimethylammonium chloride (DMDAAC) and acrylamide (AM) as raw materials, ammonium persulfate-sodium bisulfate as initiator systems.Firstly, based on a reference condition, a more suitable method of feeding raw materials and initiator for producing PDA with low residue monomer content and narrow distribution was established through a series of preliminary experiments of the feeding method, using the PDA intrinsic viscosity, molecular weight distribution and monomers conversion as criterions.Secondly, based on the feeding method, using the monomers conversion as main criterion, the intrinsic viscosity and molecular weight distribution of product PDA as secondary criterion, optimal preparation conditions of two cationicties70%and50%PDA products with low residue monomer content and narrow distribution was obtained. Based on the optimal preparation process, the factors which affected intrinsic viscosity, molecule weight distribute and monomer conversion of PDA were researched, respectively. Finally, some polymer PDA samples were characterized by gel permeation chromatograph, infrared spectrum and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum. The research result provides foundation for further research of low residual and narrow distribution PDA. It is of a greatly important reference significance.
