As municipal and industrial sewage contains many organic particles having anionic charge, common flocculants such as neutral and anionic polyacrylamide cannot be used to achieve a satisfying flocculation effect. The cationic flocculant is the suitable candidate. So the research on cationic flocculants has attracted increasing interest during the last 30 years.
