A great quantity of heavy or immovable devices are equipped in power, petrochemicals,steel and other industries. The components of such device is large in size, high precision,difficult to manufacture, transportation, installation and costly. When damaged or worn, thefield repair is necessary. A variety of advanced surface engineering technologies have beenwidely applied in field repair technology with the development of the remanufacturingengineering. But there is still a lack of remanufacturing equipment which can complete thesubsequent mechanical finishing process after advanced surface technology treatment.Therefore,the research and design of field repair machine tool, is of great significance topromote the development and application of remanufacturing engineering.This paper studied a theory of filed repairing machine tool design based on geneticalgorithm, the mechanism design with accompanying repair machine based on repaiddecomposition and assembly is proposed, applied to the concept of modular. On this basis,aiming at mechanical shaft repair, the overall structure design with accompanying repairmachine is conducted, focusing on the design of the radial and longitudinal feed mechanism.As for the dynamic characteristics of the machine, on the basis of theoretical analysis,using the ADAMS software to simulate the repair machine grinding process whose resultsprovide a basis for the rational selection and optimization of grinding parameters. In addition,obtained the stress and displacement distribution law in the external loads by the finiteelement analysis on the body of accompanying repair machine, and according to analysisresults, the structure is optimized. The optimized results showed that the strength and stiffnessof the body has been greatly improved to meet the machining requirements.This paper has a practical and theoretical significance to promote the filed repairingmachine tool research and development level. It also provides a feasible method to repair the huge mechanical shaft on site.
