Sheet metal cutting is one of the most common used industrial material processing methods, usually located at the beginning or end of a series of steps. The object this research focused on is part of the roll forming product line-variable width disc shearer. It located at the beginning of the line for sheet metal cutting purpose. It has feature of three-dimension degree of freedom and can prepare different curve outline sheet metal for roll forming product line.The radial load applied to the sheet by shearer-shear force, is one of the main parameters concerned in shearer design and practical application. Because the parameter directly affects the size of the life of the device, use conditions and product quality.In this paper, using the finite element analysis software Deform-3D, for different process parameters, kinematic parameters and structural parameter under conditions of variable width disc shearing machine, sheet metal curves finite element simulation have been conducted. Also simulation data analysis has been made by mathematical software MATLAB. This paper selected disc shears cutter clearance, cutter overlap, sheet metal thickness, shear rate, shear cutter curve of radius of gyration and shears cutter diameter six parameters, and divided them into four groups. The impact of these parameters as independent variable on shear force is researched, in order to further optimize the process parameters.This paper also utilized Orthogonal Experiment Method to study the disc cutter shears gap, overlap cutter, sheet metal thickness, shear rate and shear cutter curve of radius of gyration six parameters combined effect on shear force. Through multi-level comprehensive simulation and range and variance analysis, the influence of these parameters on the shear force, based on the minimum shear force, has been discussed.
