As the world machine tool industry and the manufacturing technology developing continuously, numerical control (NC) technology is more and more important, ordinary three-axis NC machine can not meet the needs of market further, it is developing to the multi-axis NC direction. It has developed all kinds of automatic control equipment, such as four or five-axis linkage, multiple spindle heads, multi-axis linkage and multi-axis control, lathe and milling compound type, robot and so on. Combining the modern NC technology, computer and information technology. However, the multi-axis CNC machines aren’t adapted to the precision or ultra-precision processing, if it’s performance cannot keep up with pace. To realize multi-axis NC high performance, it is necessary that constantly to achieve CNC system high speed, high efficiency, high precision, flexibility and high reliability, which based on the composite, intelligent, environmental protection technology.The purpose of this paper is to improve or present some more optimized and reasonable control methods, make sure that the existing multi-axis linkage CNC machines can realize high speed, precision, efficiency and stability for processing. To achieve high-speed, the improved smooth trace control algorithm and polynomial acceleration and deceleration control algorithm are studied, which can make NC code more smooth. To ensure that the machine is flexible under the condition of high speed machining, the speed smooth allocation algorithm and reducing machine shake algorithm which including variable acceleration flexible algorithm and section interpolation algorithm are proposed in this paper. Though the high speed motion control algorithm can improve the machining accuracy and efficiency, the error compensation and error control, dual spindle control and up-down material automatic control are more obvious. In the last, to verify the actual processing effect of these control methods, they are applied into the multi-axis linkage CNC system which is developed by enterprises and tutor cooperatively. Experiments show that these control methods can improve the performance of multi-axis CNC and has a practical application value.
