The paper focuses on the carbonization of waste wood-based panels in order to reuse them reasonably.Poplar particleboards were choosed as raw materials while the influence of UF resins on carbonized production was studied. The completed random of single factor and orthogonal design were both introduced to this research. The physicochemical properties and GC/MS composition analysis were applied to wood vinegars. Meanwhile, how UF resins effect the charcoal and the non-condensable gas was discussed. To studying the influence of UF resins on activated carbons, elemental analysis and pore structure were characterized by different methods.the optimizations of the activation process were given at last. The main results were listed as below.(1) The hot process process contributes to the yield of charcoal. On the opposite,UF resins has little effect on the yield of charcoal.(2) As UF resin consumption rise,pH, moisture content and nitrogen-containing compounds increase, but the total amount of non-condensable gas changes lightly.(3) The performance of the iodine adsorption depends on the impregnation ratio greatly, other factors including the activation time、the activation temperature and the UF resins consumption don’t change it obviously.(4) BET surface area of the optimized activated carbon is2459.708m2/g,the total porous volume is1.646cm3/g.Mesopore and micropore take the most part of the activated carbon while macropore distributes narrowly. The ash content meet the national standard. In addition, the iodine adsorption value exceeds the national standard. The SEM analysis shows the activated carbon has flourishing hole structure and smooth surface.
