More and more attention has been focused on food safety. The safety of food contact materials is also as important as food in food safety field. With the enhancement of degree of concern on food safety, the safety of food packaging materials is widely concerned in the world, furthermore, the developed countries have used it as Technical Trade Barriers.As the food packaging materials directly contact food, it safety immediately influences the safety of the packaged food. In all food direct-contact materials, plastic basic packaging materials was the most widely used, but it has initiated a series of food safety incidents. Now, its safety has been attended as a focus. At present, the main pollution problem is migration and dissolution of venomousness and harmful chemical substances were identified in foodstuffs packed in plastic films, however, the migration problem of chemical additives and harmful materials don’t still draw attention due to lack of corresponding test technique and determination standard method.The problem that chemicals in packaging materials migrate into packaged foods has leaded to a number of food safety incidents that has been repeatedly reported. Plasticizer was the most widely used, followed by absorber in packaging additives. In order to reduce the damage from light, the absorbers have been widely used, but the identified absorbers migrants are suspected of being possibly carcinogenic to humans. It will be harmful to the health if the UV absorbers migrate into packaged food. At present, some corresponding test techniques and methods have been studied by foreign scholars; however, we still didn’t pay enough attention to the problem and don’t emphasize the importance of determination technique research. The determination and supervision work can not be effectively carried out due to detection technological weakness. Therefore, a novel analytical method, targeted with9UV absorbers (UV-0, UV-2, UV-24, UV-3, UV-71, UV-9, UV-326, UV-327and UV-531), is established based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry technique in order to meet the practical needs. The method is simple, fast, sensitive, accurate and suitable for the determination of9absorbers in plastic food packaging materials. The newly-developed technique filled national blank, and the research work on the determination method of migration level in plastic food packaging materials will contribute to solve the supervision problem of UV absorbers.
