With the rapid development of the world economy, global carbon emissions continue to rise, leading to global warming. Therefore reducing carbon emissions and the pursuit of sustainable development have become the trend of world development. The study made by the World Tourism Organization in2008showed that tourism CO2emissions was about100million tons (mainly due to tourist transportation, accommodation and activities), accounting for5%of the world’s total CO2emissions. As the largest industry in the world, in response to the call of energy saving, the tourism industry put forward "low-carbon tourism". The low-carbon tourism which was put forward by the World Economic Forum in May2009aimed to reduce carbon emissions and it is a new way to travel. Tourist areas (spots) are the main places where tourist activities take place and it is a relatively complete and enclosure space, and accommodation, food, entertainment, activities and other infrastructure are self-contained, energy consumption is high and carbon emissions is large. Mountain tourist area is a beautiful regional association which contains the main elements of scenic resources. In addition to the general characteristics of the tourist attractions, its forest covers a large area and carbon sink capacity is more obvious. Exploration of greenhouse gas emissions in tourist areas (spots) and forest carbon sinks is one of the basic works to achieve low carbon tourism. And the analysis of carbon source in tourist attractions involves a complex system, namely, a combined system of natural systems and socio-economic systems which rarely involve the calculation of carbon sources of carbon flux amount in tourist attractions. Therefore, this paper intends to apply theories and models of the carbon footprint to the study of mountain tourist area, Xiling Snow Mountain, for example, is based on real data to assess the carbon footprint in the process of travelling in the tourist areas (spots) which provide reasonable measures for low-carbon tourism in West Ridge snow-capped mountains.According to the existing research results of the carbon footprint, combining with the characteristics of mountain tourist area to build calculation model of carbon source and carbon sequestration in type mountain tourist area. Type mountain tourist area carbon source is mainly composed of seven parts, namely, transportation, accommodation, catering, tour, entertainment, waste treatment and breath of tourists. Carbon sequestration is mainly in the forest carbon sinks. By calculation, the Carbon source of Xiling Snow Mountain is8353.779t, including tourism catering, tourism accommodation and tourist traffic as the main carbon source, respectively emitted3661.202t,2435.638t and1732.078t, accounting for43.83%,29.16%and20.73%; the three add up to7828.918t, about93.72%of the total. Annual tourists of the scenic are325204and every visitor emissions25.565kg CO2. Forest bring together2316.824t CO2annually and clear90625.712visitors’ CO2emission, carbon sequestration capacity significantly. Xiling Snow Mountain carbon footprint is6036.955t.Compared with existing research results and the reality in XiLing Snow Mountain, CO2emission is less than existing results in the scenic spots in each process. We can draw a conclusion that type mountain tourist area is in line with the law of low carbon tourism quantitative study, and it is a kind of low carbon tourism. The results of the study have universality and applicability. But compared with other types of tourist area, which CO2emissions of traffic is the maximum, CO2emissions in accommodation in type mountain tourist area tourism is on the top of the list, followed by catering and transportation, the carbon sources in type mountain tourist area is quite different.
