The cause of the vacuum cleaner’s noise was analyzed in this study, t he noise improvement m ethods were generated t hrough t heory and s imulation analysis and validated experimentally. The main works are summarized as follows:Based on t he noise spectrum analysis, near-field measurement and visualization analysis results, we found the main source of noise. It includes the vibration noise of motor rotator, rotational noise of motor impeller and aerodynamic noise generated in the flow field. And at the same time, we developed four different noise improvement methods which a re t he impeller optimization, the m otor chamber re-design, us ing various shapes of sound absorbing material in exhausting channel and isolation of motor’s vibration.The experiment system for testing the motor performance of vacuum cleaner was developed, and the flow field was analyzed through simulation by using FLUENT software. so by this means of simulation and experiment, we validated effects on the rotational noise and efficiency of motor, notably generated not only by impeller in varied diameters, blade numbers, serrated shape of blade, but also by diffuser in slit blade shape, quarter wavelength resonator and even vaneless type.The ex periment s ystem f or testing the pa rts r esistance of vacuum cleaner w as developed. We an alyzed and validated the effects on the a erodynamic noi se and efficiency of motor, generated by three kinds of flow paths which are direct discharge, helix and double di scharge r espectively, as well as sound a bsorbing material of different shape.Through analyzing the free modal of motor chamber by using ANSYS software, we found it would generate resonance effect with the rotation of motor. And in order to decrease the vibration and noise caused by the vibration, we designed the sealing ring with quarter wavelength resonator and adopted elastic supporting system for the motor, by doing that the vibration of vacuum cleaner was decreased and the vibration and noise of motor was also improved.In brief, the cur rent va cuum cl eaner noise level was improved by us ing the methods demonstrated in this study, and the research achievements have a certain reference and guiding significance for developing the low noise vacuum cleaner.
