Nowadays, solar energy technology and applications are given more attention under industrial policy and it has been developing greatly because of energy crisis. With the decline in the cost of photovoltaic cells, photovoltaic systems have not only for remote areas that without electricity supply, but also for people’s daily life production. For example, solar street lighting system, solar fountain and hydrogen production system are closely related to photovoltaic cells. As the conversion efficiency of photovoltaic cells is low, so it is necessary to make the maximum power output. So it is necessary to make the system work in maximum power tracking control system to improve efficiency.Firstly, the paper describes the development of PV system and the research significance of MPPT. Secondly, it introduced most commonly used power tracking algorithm and DC-DC converter circuit, compared the advantages and disadvantages of various algorithms, and some of the algorithms proposed in theory improvements. Thirdly, the paper design main circuit and sampling circuit. In this paper, PWM signal is output by high-performance digital signal processing chip to control IGBT, by adjusting the duty cycle to change the boost circuit output voltage of photovoltaic cells. The paper use a perturbation method to achieve maximum power tracking of PV systems based on the analysis of maximum power tracking algorithm. When the circuit is designed completed, the efficiency of boost circuit is tested. Finally, experiments were carried out on the circuit, the results show that the system can able to track the maximum power point, and can be safe and reliable operation. False phenomenon with the perturbation method will occurred in the experiment occasionally, and the reasons are explained.
