Power system security and stability with very important practical significance has always been concerned seriously. In recent years, some facts have posed serious threats to power system security and stability, e.g. more and more new FACTS devices were applied to power system, load centre areas were supplied by long distance transmission lines especially in an interconnected power system, and the operating point were more and more closer to the security boundaries, etc. Thus, in order to determine the critical contingencies and to find the preventive/corrective control strategies, it is very important to develop power system security analysis software to monitor power system operation. In this thesis, a visualization system of power system security analysis is researched and developed. Main works of this thesis are as following:1. The visualization system of power system security analysis is designed and developed. Its main functions are static security analysis with consideration of N-1 criteria, short circuit analysis, static voltage stability analysis, etc. It contains three main parts, i.e. data support subsystem, application subsystem and visualization subsystem. The developed system has been successfully applied in Tianjin Electric Power Company Dispatching & Communication Center.2. An algorithm for topology analysis based on CIM is presented. A variety of raw data acquired from different sources, including the information of current operation state, day-ahead forecasting and scheduling etc., can be integrated to generate the dataset in PSS/E format. It prepares necessary information for the power system security check. The principle is very easy to realize and the speed of calculation is high. The algorithm is coded by ANSI C/C++ and applied in the data support subsystem.
