Aircraft engine is considered to be the heart of the aircraft, its stability is directly related to the quality of the mission. With the development of modern aviation technology, the function of aviation engine is improved, increasing demands on the structural strength and working conditions, resulting in increased examples of the aero-engine failure. These cases reflect the importance of aero-engine fault diagnosis. In a case of slow reasoning speed and less a priori knowledge, it can help the aero-engine fault diagnosis expert system for reasoning and learning by using a genetic algorithm, to solve the problems of knowledge acquisition, and prove to be effective.1) After reading the extensive literature, this article describes the significance of aero-engine fault diagnosis, content and status of international research, development, and outlook.2) Expounds four kinds of failure mechanism and prevention measures, the four kinds of failure mechanism are the rotor misalignment, rotor imbalance, rotor rubbing and rolling bearing.3) Introduced the principle and characteristics of the genetic algorithm, described the basic steps of the genetic algorithm, proposed the method of improved genetic algorithm based on gradient, using genetic algorithms to analyze the fault feature to extract failure, removal of redundant characteristic parameters, classify and calculate the fault, the using of MATLAB, obtained the best solution based on genetic algorithm.4) using improved genetic algorithm, establish aero-engine fault diagnosis expert system, Facing knowledge "bottleneck" problem of expert system, to solve the formidable problems in the past. Compare and contrast by using knowledgebase, reasoning and pattern recognition to improve the recognition accuracy of the fault.5) Mixed programming by MATLAB and VB.NET, the preparation of the fault diagnosis of computer programs, created based on improved genetic algorithm for Aircraft Engine Fault Diagnosis Expert System.and finished a certain type of aircraft engine vibration fault diagnosis. The results show that this fault diagnosis method can effectively diagnose engine failure and improve the accuracy of fault diagnosis.
