Aero-engine is a mechanism with high rotation speed and complex structure. Becausethe aero-engine usually works in bad conditions such as high temperature, high pressure,high stress and alternating load, its failure rate in the aero-engine is high. The aero-enginerestricts the improvement of the whole quality. The maintenance and manufacture cost ofthe aero-engine is increased. Therefore, design excellent fault diagnosis system to diagnoseengine failure and develop reasonable measures to effectively eliminate failure has becomeone of the focuses in current research on engine.Expert system is one of the widely used methods in the field of aero-engine faultdiagnosis. The knowledge base and inference engine can be separated by the expert systemthat uses the knowledge for reasoning with good reasoning mechanism while performaccurate analysis of fault parameters and diagnosis faults efficiently. According to the faultparameters of an aero-engine, the expert system uses fault tree and rule-based methods topresent the knowledge, then uses mixed reasoning method with depth first searching stepsand breadth first searching steps to diagnose the fault of the aero-engine.As a basic programming platform for the whole system, VC++is used for thedevelopment of human-machine interface, data processing systems and exchangeknowledge between database systems and peripherals. As the core of the development ofhigh-level knowledge-based systems, CLIPS is used to implement the knowledge base andinference engine. With dynamic link library from CLIPS, VC++main program isresponsible for reading related parameters from the database or human-machine interfaceand transfers them to the knowledge as a new fact to trigger reasoning.
