By reading a lot of all kinds of domestic and foreign books and journals about reactorstructure design and reactor accidents, I learn that accidents caused by the fault of coilsinter-turn insulation are the most. In particular, our common used vacuum switch, which makethe reactor suffer from over-voltage constantly and threat the reactor inter-turn coil insulation,thus resulting in over-voltage amplitude and steepness are greatly increased and the reactoraccidents rates also rise. Our operation department often takes certain protective measures tomake sure the reliability of the reactor coils inter-turn insulation by limiting the over-voltageoutside the fixed magnitude, which is always not enough. However, in order to make sure thatthe new reactor has enough insulation level, the manufacturing department can also takeeffective and reasonable test methods, standards and equipment to replace the rejected partsand defected coils which may make against the reactor’s safe operation by improve themanufacturing quality. In recently years, with the electrification of our public life, our powerdepartment must develop towards the trend of high-voltage and high-capacity equipment.According to our GB11025“Reactor” and the International Standard IEC289“Reactor”, wecan see that our domestic power department has worked out relative new testing standards andalso make high test requirements for reactor coil inter-turn insulation. However, our presentdomestic insulation testing level can not meet the testing requirements of the new equipment,therefore, a new generation of reactor inter-turn insulation test equipment developmentbecome inevitable.In this paper, I make a brief study about this new equipment and propose a new designinitially by reading some reference documentation about reactor inter-turn coil insulation fromdomestic and foreign experts, and combining my own understanding for all kinds of reactorcoils structures and insulation production. This testing device impose30KV~60KV impulsevoltage to the reactor tested coils by pulse-voltage method, and test the pros and cons of thetested coils inter-turn insulation by way of pulse method. And in this test, according to the GB11025and the International Standard IEC289, the rise time of the simulation waveform ofoutput voltage of all kinds of current domestic reactors fully meet requirements.This device not only solve the discharge problems to grounding system at the instant theDC power supply switch off, but also can ensure the safety of persons and equipment. In themeasurement, based on the principle of pulse comparison, we make reactor windingimpulsive discharge, and compare the response waveform of the winding with the waveformof fault-free winding, and then we can make sure if the winding insulation is normal bycomparing the two group of pulse attenuation waveform, and we can also get a completeexpert system by judging the calculation of attenuation frequency between good waveform and fault waveform, and we should keep the testing data in time.
