The HVDC Light technique is based on power semiconductor devices, however if the withstandvoltage of the power semiconductor devices can’t achieve the requirement of the high-voltageoccasion, the devices or the modules can be series connected to increase the withstand voltage. Thesemethods must bring the issues such as the drive power supply of a large number of powersemiconductor devices applied in high-voltage environment. In consideration of such high-voltageappliance, this essay introduced the current-fed high-frequency AC bus drive power supply.The series resonant converter operates at constant dutycycle while the output current is controlledby PFM mode. If the switching frequency is higher than the series resonant frequency, the convertercan achieve ZVS. This essay theoretically analyzed the operation principle of the series resonantfull-bridge converter, the characteristics of the resonant net and the influence of the circuit’s relatedparameters on withstand voltage of the resonant capacitor and other restrictions. Simulation results arepresented to verify these theories. This essay gives the design method of the resonant converter, andthe setting method of the peripheral parameters of the control chip L6599is also presented.Simulation results are given and a prototype is built to verify the design method.The topology of the secondary is like Boost and the control is simple. It has small volume so thedesign and installing of the high-voltage parts can be easily achieved. The application uses thesecondary side self power-up method to get rid of the redundancy assistant power supply. Theoperation principle and the stability of the secondary side are analyzed in this essay. The applicationgets its steady state model after adding the link compensation, and this has been verified by thesimulation. A comprehensive design procedure for the high-frequency and high-voltage transformerconverter is also proposed in this essay. High-voltage insulation drive power supply prototypes about5~6W are designed on these basis. Simulation and experimental results are given to verify thecorrectness of the design and analysis of the converter.Some key techniques of IGBT drive are studied to aim at IGBT drive characteristics. The designrequirements of the IGBT drive are analyzed and the design procedure is presented. Considering theIGBT drive board works in the high-voltage environment, the optical fiber communication modulehas been added in the IGBT board. Finally, experimental results are given to verify that the prototypecan work with the current-fed AC bus type drive power supply steady, the whole application can drivethe IGBT module effectively.
