Study On Waterscape Of Residential Areas In Modern Cities

Water has become the most dynamic and charming factor in the ecologicalenvironment, which integrate the water, green plants, some simple sculptures into thedesign of residential space environment, often gives the feeling of returning to nature;In residential environment, constructing appropriate waterscape features can enrich theliving space, regulate climate in part and give great benefit to the residents. More andmore people are paying attention to the kinds of benefits of water, so living along thewaterside,“water view house” which located along the waterside and is close to natureare being received sufficient attention and loved by various residents. So living in waterview house is becoming a trend that high-quality people to pursue healthier living andcreate a better living environment.The way that leading water as design elements into the residential environment hasbeen so long. People will feel good spirits in the waterscape of the Traditional Gardens.The waterscape of modern residential environment is important not only to publicsquare space but also to residential environment space. Leading water makes up theflaw that paved single hard ground of square or dull planting. At the same time, water,plant and stones are usually made up of graceful landscape, which can offer a leisureand exchange place for residents. At present, there are flowing some problems in designof waterscape:(1) Without regard to the actual situation of residential area, excavating water poolblindly, which will be certain to form a pool or a section of stagnant water, suchwetlands are likely to breed mosquitoes and worms. (2) Blindly following the trend, large facilities of waterscape and fountain, whichoften “Made up, use not.”, even forming landscape.(3) Someone could not consider the actual circumstances in designing waterscape,such as large scale waterscape was made in dry areas and caused none water to see, ordesigning and maintaining improperly in wet areas caused much mud in embankmentsand water diffuse disaster. However, no matter how compact design should be inharmony with the surrounding environment or it will become “a forest without trees”,Starting with study of theories and methods of western and oriental traditions, the authortries to research people’s visual and mental experience of waterscape and analysiswaterscape of two subdistricts in Chang’an District. The main contents include:1. The analysis of water importance in ingredients or residential environment;2. Utilizing the theories of western and oriental traditional waterscape, how todesign waterscape in modern residence place;3. The methods of plan and design waterscape in residence;4. Studying preliminarily from an ecological point of view, I gavethe methods of maintaining and governing water.Hope this essay can offer some reference in designing waterscape and sustainableuse in Chang’an, even northwestern China, and provide guidance for waterscapedesigning of similar areas, offer a pleasant and beautiful living environment for people.
