Logical Analysis Of Contemporary Architecture Expressed In Traditional Form In Xi’an

With the wave of global civilization in full swing today and the culture shock fromwestern countries, where should our national culture go is still a question. Even one ofthe four civilized ancient capitals in the world, the cultural and historical city Xi’ancan’t avoid getting involved in this situation, and is also facing the difficulties ofinheriting, developing and surpassing. Under the diversity and tendency of modernarchitecture, it becomes an important project for both urban planner and architects toseek in new century to keep the characteristics of the cultural and historical city as wellas the long historical context from being replaced by the cultural hegemony inarchitectural creation when develop new architecture in Xi’an.This article is focused on the reflection of the phenomenon that the city isconstructed in large scale rapidly with many logic analyses from respects of technology,function, and culture. Considering the length is limited, we’ll start mainly from therespect of the logic of architectural culture, and summarize the architectural creation ofcontemporary architecture expressed in traditional form in Xi’an.In the process of architectural inheriting, the contemporary architecture tends toinherit the positive or negative factor abandoned by the previous generation. Because ofthis, architecture of contemporary and the early time have many in common, which Iregard as the relative durable in form. However, with the rapid development oftechnology and the update of consumerism, contemporary architectural creation isinvolved in the conflict of tradition and innovation. Or rather, the standard andexception of architecture are at the state of dialogue and deadlock. Therefore, I choosesome projects that can present contemporary architecture in Xi’an to research on and tryto find possible ways for its future development through the discussion of the current state of architectural creation. Finally, by numerous on-site investigations and study ofurban architecture creation, the contemporary architecture in traditional form in Xi’ancan be summarized to have four tendency of expression and each of them reflectscharacteristics of a certain kind of architectural culture.
