Ellipsoid reticulated shell structures are new steel structure form of roof. They provide an extensive space for architects. Because roof horizontal projection is a ellipse but most of sports stadiums such as cycling velodrome, football field, basketball court etc are oblong or ellipse, ellipsoid reticulated shell structures are adopted as roofcover structures, which can provide more reasonable plane layout and increase architectural space use efficiency, but small rise-span ratio reticulated shell structures can further decrease interior height, save the expense on refrigeration and lighting, which fit in with the main steam of world development on environment protection and energy conservation.The writer is responsible for professional designing Guangzhou Asia cycling velodrome and adopts flat ellipsoid reticulated shell structures. The horizontal projection is an ellipse with 144m ( long axis)X 120m (short axis). The rise-span ratio is 1/10.0(long axis)~ 1/8.1(short axis). The average rise-span ratio is 1/9.05. In this thesis, research is proceeded based on practical works.1.The mechanical properties of flat ellipsoid reticulated single shell structures (rise-span ratio≤7)are analyzed.2. In accordance with the most important overall stability problem, the thesis brings up measures on installing double-layer components along and setting up truss reinforcing member on the external wall. The thesis analyzes nonlinear overall stability by finite element methods, reveals reasons and rules, tests and verifies effectiveness on the measures.3. The analysis of overall structure elastic-plastic dynamic time history on the unusual earthquake is made. The analysis of nonlinear seismic responses is made on different bearings forms of steel roof ( fix-jointed bank, circumferential hinge, radial sliding plus circumferential hinge, radial sliding plus damping)and the model structure of damper with different damping parameters is installed in bearing of steel roof by many input earthquake wave. According to analysis, arrangement and contrast, damping parameters are decided, evaluating overall seismic property of structure...
