The vertical design is an important component in basic theory system of generallayout, which refers to the reasonable smooth of technical process, site security andstability, but also has a direct impact on project investment. This paper analyzes thegeneral vertical design in the current domestic and international situation and theadvantages and disadvantages of the traditional vertical design, is found that thetraditional vertical design theory relies too heavily on qualitative design while ignoringthe quantitative design and there are many problems in the design ideas and results ofoptimization demonstration. To solve these problems, this paper puts forward the basictheory of the quantitative research on general vertical design, and is divided into threeresearch aspects are expounded respectively.1This paper based on the quantitative research methods, combined with relatedtheories from the vertical design and started with the main design content of verticaldesign, respectively found out the key factors which affect the general vertical and thesefactors were hierarchical described, proposed the relationship between vertical designand its influencing factors, laid a theoretical foundation for the quantitative research ongeneral vertical design.2This paper introduced artificial neural network theory, combined with therelationship between the vertical design and its influence factors, established a rationalevaluation index system on the selective factors content of vertical design. This paper,by using the BP neural network model of artificial neural network theory, giving weightto evaluation index while doing network training, inputting MATLAB software to getthe evaluation results, thus completed the quantitative research on general verticaldesign. 3Based on two or more vertical designs, this paper used three standard degreemethod, through the establishment of scheme selection index system and quantifyingthe index selection, constructed judgment matrix and calculated the total weight, so asto obtain the optimal scheme of vertical design, this is basic theory of the vertical designscheme for quantitative comparison and selection.Finally the paper through the engineering example analysis and quantitativeresearch methods applied to the vertical design, made thorough research to study ideas,indicated the rationality and feasibility of quantitative research on general verticaldesign.
