In order to research the operational characteristics of wind turbines and the dy-namic characteristics of drive chain, and improve the reliability of wind turbines, Thepaper analyses the operational characteristic of wind turbines from the point of view ofentire system. The torsional vibration of drive chain is analyzed, and also analyzed therelationship between the load at the tower center and the stress of flange bolts. The re-search result of the thesis can provide reference for the design and failure analysis of thewind turbine, and has certain theoretical and engineering practical value.The main content and structure studied in the paper:The1stChapter: Introduction. Analyzed the worldwide development trend of windpower. Then, analyzed and summarized the formerly research achievement respec-tively from the aspects of the wind speed distribution and wind field model establish-ment, the dynamics analysis of flexible multi-body system, the research on wind tur-bine’s drive chain, and the operational simulation of wind turbines.The2ndChapter: The aerodynamics theory of wind turbines and its modification.Describes the aerodynamics theory of the horizontal axis wind turbine, and do some re-search on blade tip-loss correction, hub-loss correction, Glauert correction, skewedwake correction, dynamic wake correction and so on, with taking account of the energyloss caused by the interaction of the wind and wind turbines under the actual condition.The3rdChapter: The rigid-flexible multi-body model of wind turbines. Accordingto the guideline for the certification of wind turbines published by Germanischer Lloyd,drew the topological graph of gearbox and entire wind turbines, and on the above base,the paper build the detailed model of the rigid-flexible multi-body wind turbine.The4thChapter: The dynamic analysis of the wind turbine. Makes a time-domainsimulation of the wind turbine under three different wind conditions, analyzed the re-sponse of blade and tower under the wind excitation and, and the corresponding charac-teristics of gearbox. The torsional vibration of the drive chain is analyzed and plottedCampbell Fig.ures and corresponding energy distribution Fig.ures of each frequencyband, and Fig.ured out the points which may cause resonances.The5thChapter: The connection analysis of tower flange bolts. Deduces the rela-tionship between the load at the tower center and bolt stress, and establishes the FEmodel of flange-bolt system to verify the results deduced. the paper put emphasis on the change of bolt stress when flanges are separated. And then, get the stress-time series ofthe flange bolt, when the wind turbine is running.
