With an increasingly competitive market and the continuous improvement of thediverse personal needs of customers, the multi-varieties and small-batch production hasgradually become the main production mode in numerous machine shops.Multi-varieties and small-batch production process involves the various processingequipment, complicate process routes and limited resources, so it has the features ofrandomness, dynamic, uncertainty and muti-goal. However, machine shops still usetwo-dimensional chats and data reports to monitor the production task status whichleads to low job shop monitoring capabilities, low degree of visulization and poor realtime feedback of manufacturing schedule. These defects have seriously effected theoptimization of production scheduling. Therefore, machine shops urgently need a kindof dynamic visual monitoring system to dynamically display a large amount of jobshoplevel working information, to directly acquaint the production task status and toaccurately grasp the production performance so that the managers are able todynamically gain the production information,to reasonably allocate manufacturingresources, to timly adjust production, thereby realizing the goal of improving theproduction efficiency and manufacturing level. This paper combines the problems andneeds of machine shop in multi-varieties and small-batch production mode,reasearching on the dynamic visual method to monitor production task status anddeveloping the support system.Fistly, based on analyzing the situation and needs of production status monitoringin multi-varieties and small-batch production machine shop, this paper put forward anidea for machine shop production task monitoring which bases on the simulationsoftware—flexsim, and bulit the architecture, function structure and operation mode ofthe support system.Then, a general technical framework for the implementation of the production taskmonitoring system based on Flexsim was built. In addition, the mechanism of dataintegration and sharing based on XML, the relationship modeling techniques forstamping machines based on ESHLEP-N and the virtual simulation technology based onflexsim were researched. Based on that, the development of production task statusvisual monitoring system was studied.Finally, based on aboved research and conbined with the actual needs of an autopart manufacturer in Chongqing, a production task status visual monitoring systemfor machine shop in multi-varieties and small-batch production mode was developed.The system has been deployed in the enterprise and good application results wereobtained.
