The wide use of internal combustion engine car aggravates the deterioration ofglobal environment and the constant depletion of oil resources, which also drives thewhole world to develop new-energy vehicles, this rigorous situation also provides amore vast space for the development of electric vehicle. At present, the electric vehiclemost use a transmission with fixed ratio, this transmission although increased drivetorque of automobile, but in the straight road when high-speed consumes more power, itcan’t give consideration to the high-speed car can cruise and low speed climbing ability.This study is to develop a new kind of three gears automatic transmission for electricvehicle, the transmission is named P-AMT, it has low speed gear, top gear and neutral.The internal gear transmission part of P-AMT transmission adopts single rowplanetary gear transmission, so the transmission has small volume and light quality. Theshift part of P-AMT made up of shift motor, screw nut pair, shifting fork, sliding splineetc, and it use program to control the movement of shift motor and clutch to shift.This article focuses on clarify the working principle, design ideas of the P-AMTtransmission, and reference to the technical parameters of Changan Yuexian electricvehicle, proposing specific design requirements. According with the mechanical designmanual and machine design manual and other related books, we design and calculatethe key parameters of P-AMT transmission. According to calculated data, we select keyparts of the transmission. Through the analysis of a few kinds of shift that might beconducted in the driving of an electric car, we also conducted a preliminary analysis andexploration to the transmission shift control system, which provided foundation for thefoundation of the electric car shift control system in the future.P-AMT transmission is a new design, so it is different with traditional cartransmission in the whole structure, work principles and control strategies. In order toshift smoothly, there are some innovations in the structure of spline which in shiftinstitutions——end reversed cone, it can be used for other relevant reference for design.
