As vehicle makers have gradually adopted JIT production mode, the sheet metalparts manufacturing enterprises are demanded for timely delivery and quality productsby vehicle makers which makes a fierce competition in automotive sheet metal partsmarks. Currently, die quality abnormalities in the production process such as blade wear,die looseness, uneven clearance, frequently bring about unqualified products, eveninterrupt the production which are acknowledged as the key factor of disturbing theproduction in automotive sheet metal parts workshops. Therefore, how to prognosis thedie quality abnormalities before they occur, how to promptly diagnose the reasons of thequality problems and how to promptly handle the die quality abnormalities, play a vitalrole in sheet metal parts manufacturing enterprise. In this paper, the advancedmanagement idea of MES and the technologies of SPC,Knowledge Base, Web Serviceare combined together to research the die quality management supporting system inautomotive sheet metal parts workshop.On the basis of present situation and the die quality management demands, thispaper constructed a die quality dynamic management supporting system for automotivesheet metal parts stamping workshop, which supports die quality data dynamicacquisition, die quality information real-time analysis, die quality abnormalitiesdiagnosis and handling. In addition, the architecture, function structure and operationmodes of the system were set up.Based on the above research of system structure and operation mode, the generaltechnical framework of the die quality dynamic management supporting system forautomotive sheet metal parts stamping workshop was built. Furthermore, some keytechniques of this system were studied including the die quality dynamic controltechnique based on SPC, the die quality abnormalities diagnosis technique based onexpert knowledge base, and the die quality abnormalities coordination treatmenttechnique based on Web Services.Finally, aiming at the practical situation and requirements of die qualitymanagement in stamping workshop of a automotive sheet metal parts manufacturingenterprise in Chongqing, a die quality dynamic management supporting system forautomotive sheet metal parts stamping workshop was designed and developed based onthe above researches. This system has been successfully applied in the practice of die quality management in this enterprise’s stamping process and good results wereobtained.
