As the development of the society and the improvement of our living standards,functionalism cannot satisfy the physical and spiritual demand of people to the betterliving condition. Meanwhile, with the international and also single appearance offunctionalism, the architectural academic critique rises up toward it and initiateregional architecture with specific culture background. As a reaction of thisphenomenon, lots of the current residential projects emerging is of different regionalstyle, during which exist GuanTang and Fifth Garden of Chinese traditional style orlocal style, and also foreign style residential building designed based on the westernclassical or local style.In fact, the stylization of residential architecture has been a fixed architecturaltrend, to which we have to face with active attitude. However, with different reasons,there is some problem of it. On one side, the customers, even the professional peopledo not have a clear and systematic knowledge of the popular architectural styles, somore or less they have so misunderstand of stylization. Besides, from the architecturalfield, functional building is till the main object of normal teaching and practicalconstruction, so as a result of it, the former education and construction knowledgecannot fully guide the different stylized building.Based on the phenomenon and current situation above, this article aims toanswer some critique issues on the design of stylized residential architecture. Whatis really a style, and what are the special elements of it. How should we to use thestylized element during the modern design. What is the potential difficulty in thepractical construction and how to fix it.
