China is a country with a lot of buildings. Both the number of new buildings and totalconstruction area of our country are top in the world every year. In these huge existingbuildings, most of the buildings using life has been close to or reached architecture designservice life. Secondly, the harsh environment, natural disasters and man-made factors, haveseriously affected seriously affect on the structure normal use. These reasons cause thestructures can not satisfy the safety, applicability, durability and other relevant requirements,the existing building will endanger people’s lives and property safety if we don’t deal withthese problems in time.It will cost huge investment if dismantle these existing buildings and reconstruction, thatis not desirable for China, which is not rich in energy reserves but has a large population.Select the appropriate reinforcement scheme for the existing building reinforcement can avoidthe waste of social resources, also accord with low carbon sustainable social developmentrequirements.Based on the mentioned above, the topic of the existing building structure strengtheningreconstruction scheme optimization was researched and evaluated from the angle of technicaland economic in the paper, the main contents were as follows.In the first part, by establish and use the existing building structure safety and reliabilityevaluation system, we can assessment of the safety status of existing building structurecorrectly, that also the foundation of the structure optimization of strengthening schemes.In the second part, it summarized the existing building structure reinforcement methodand its applicability and the new type reinforcement materials application at home and abroad.Using finite element analysis software ANSYS to establish simulation model, and assessmentthe technology reliability of the strengthening scheme.In the third part, it defined full meaning of the existing building life cycle which wasafter carry out strengthening and established the economic evaluation model of the life cyclecost with different service life in different reinforcing scheme, as well as provided thecalculation method and the formula model of the sub items cost.In the last part, paper used the TOPSIS method to choose existing building structure reinforcing scheme from the technical, economic, influence to construction afterreinforcement, complexity of construction and advanced of the scheme.
