Uncontained engine rotor failure means the escape of rotor fragment from the engine.Uncontained rotor failure is one of typical particular risks to airplane, and uncontained fragment ofhigh velocity and energy has a major impact on airplane safety.Safety analysis of airplane in case of uncontained rotor failure calculates probability ofcatastrophic hazards by identifying and assessing catastrophic hazards of uncontained event. It is aneffective method to meet design requirements of uncontained safety, and to verify the requirements. Inthis paper, safety analysis of uncontained rotor failure based on simulation is studied in depth.Definitions and assumptions for uncontained failure safety analysis are improved. Needs ofimformations for analysis are defined, and method how to deal with the imformations is provided.Uncontained fragment model is built. Based on Monte Carlo, fragment-releasing events are simulated.Hazard identification method based on airplane minimum cut is proposed and quantitative evaluationmodel of catastrophic hazards resulting from uncontained rotor failure is developed. Finally, softwarestructural framework is built to implement the function of safety analysis, and an application instanceis presented to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.This method analyses real digital prototype as object, and achieves computer simulation analysisof uncontained rotor failure, which can greatly improve evaluation efficiency, reduce analysis costsand shorten analysis cycle. It is a technical support of aircraft uncontained failure design, analysis andverification.
