External wall insulation as a major component of building energy saving,it hasbecome one of the building energy saving. Driven by national policies and energyefficiency standards, China’s external wall insulation technology has made rapiddevelopment, and a lot of wall insulation technology of different materials, differentconstruction practices have come forth. But a series of fire at home and abroadinvestigation results show that the building’s exterior wall materials has become themain factors leading to the fire of external wall insulation,and it cannot be ignored.This paper analyzes the cases of domestic fires caused by insulation material orexacerbates fire spread, and also studies the exterior walls insulation and fire safetysystem of China by relevant projects. The main content as follows:1.Selected a recent typical fire cases related to external thermal insulation ininsulation materials. These fires case are classified by the insulation material into theconstruction site laying period, the period of the construction of thermal insulationmaterial on the wall, the period of exterior insulation and finish system put in. Thenational conditions of the building exterior insulation and fire protection in Chinaanalyzed.2.Analysis of external thermal insulation system, study the cause of the fire safetyof external thermal insulation system and fire performance requirements of the buildingexterior insulation system and affect the exterior insulation system, a key element of firesafety performance.3.This paper studies the exterior walls insulation and fire safety system of China byrelevant projects, and the basic structure of the external wall insulation system, the mainmaterial fire performance specifications, construction techniques, and curtain wallinsulation approach. This paper also proposes that only the insulation layer andprotective layer of the overall reaction to fire performance is good, the constructor ofthe system is reasonable, in order to ensure the effectiveness of measures to meet therequirements of fire safety performance and thus leaving the exterior insulation andfinish systems.4.Under the new provisions of the People’s Republic of China Ministry of PublicSecurity issued the public [2011] No.65of the elimination of red tape, Class Ainsulation materials have been studied. Analysis of flame rating of the new A-levelexternal wall insulation materials, external wall insulation works, how to select the Class A non-combustible insulation materials, and also this paper studies Class Acommonly used non-combustible insulation materials, rock wool board insulationprogram by relevant projects.
