| City infrastructure construction is perfected increasingly. As the external window of city, the railway station also produced tremendous change. Not only the function is more complex, highway, railway and rail transit are converging, but also the architectural style reflects the local culture characteristic. With construction of China’s railway transportation system and the development of city traffic facilities, more and more comprehensive railway station are built in succession. Large volume, complex function is the main characteristics, steel structure of roof, large space fire design requirements and puts forward a new challenge.The current national fire codes for large space of the smoke and fire facilities regulations cannot satisfy the new requirements in the design of railway station building. It’s necessary to make the fire safety assessment through the performance based fire protection design method. Then we can make the scientific and reasonable design. So, it’s very useful to research the performance-based design of railway station large space, discuss the performance-based design method in railway station building applications.First of all, this paper introduces the domestic and international performance based design methods of the development process, then takes the performance-based fire protection design for a railway station building for example. Using the performance based fire protection design method, aiming at the practical problems in engineering analysis simulation; it puts forward the scientific and rational design. At the end, the paper puts forward new research directions on the performance based fire protection design in railway station building. |
