Research Of The Historical Experience And Contemporary Reference Of The Landscape Construction Of The Ancient City Of Xianyang

With its special planning concepts, design approaches and traditions of theconstruction, the ancient Chinese cities play an important role in the city constructionhistory of the world. As a hot spot of the academic research, the researches of ancientChinese city pattern, design methods and so on have achieved great results, but theresearches of the relationship between the city and the surrounding landscapeenvironment are still relatively inadequate. Therefore, this paper attempts to take thefamous city which carries abundant resources of history and traditional culture,Xianyang, as the research object, to study those humanistic ideas and urban landscapeconstruction techniques which are contained in the Chinese traditional urban landscapeconstruction, and tries to sort out the urban landscape construction context contained.In this paper applies the living environment science as the theoretical basis for theresearch, and the research methods include the literature analysis and the field research.Through the summary and the analysis of the relationship between the city elements(urban location, urban form, urban axis, city landmarks, etc.) and urban landscapeelements (the city and the Weihe River, the city and the Mausoleum, the city andmountains, etc.) of Xianyang in Ming and Qing dynasties, come to the culturalconnotation of the ancient city landscape construction, it means that a city is not merelyto create a living space, more importantly, is to give it a whole cultural meaning, and toform a unique cultural construction of the city. In addition, the city keeps trying tointegrate gradually into the surrounding landscape and environment, and ultimatelyturns into a city which mixes the material, the spirit and the artistic conception together harmoniously.Finally, this paper rethinks profoundly about modern Xianyang urban constructionthrough the experiences of the ancient urban landscape construction method obtainedfrom studying Xianyang, comes to the conclusion that the urban design shouldn’t be toolimited, and the designers should have a more open thinking space and a morecomprehensive knowledge system, It further raises that Xianyang’s city planning andconstruction should fully run through the city’s historical and cultural background, andfully integrate into the surrounding landscape and environment, in order to create amodern urban landscape pattern in the modern city order, and to continue the concept ofurban landscape pattern.
